Re: New subdivision

You bet--council approved it last year.

Now people will bitch they have to sit on McCarthy at Morrnington waiting for the light to change to cross the road to go to Romeo..Bet some will blow the red when there is no traffic, especially at night.  If this happens, perhaps they will change it to a flashing red for McCarthy at night.

Re: New subdivision

I tend to agree.  Even when approaching the light on McCarthy just as it turns red, the wait time for a new green is not much more than would have occurred had you waited behind two cars who wanted to make a left hand turn.   Sure here is a bit of a wait, but it seems to be working quite well.

Re: New subdivision

Curbs have been poured for the extension of McCarthy and the road base is being readied for asphalt.

The first phase of this subdivision is the very western end of the McCarthy extension. True to the promises of Council (short sighted as it was) the extension of Foreman to meet McCarthy will not be happening. Foreman currently ends at the water tower and there... 25 feet or so away and perfectly aligned... is the extension of Foreman that continues to McCarthy...all ready for curbs. It looks like there will be a turning circle on the new road...where it should have been joined.

Re: New subdivision

It is interesting to stand at the end of the new section of McCarthy and now you can see exactly where it will intersect O'Loane.

You can also see the street stubs that run to the western edge of the property and will join the recently announced development of the lands north of the St. Mike parking lot and soccer field. I would assume as Hyde gets his project off the north side on St. Mikes underway....he will be required to extend McCarthy all the way to O'Loane.

Re: New subdivision

Walked the sections from the water tower along the new streets to the Rotary Last night. The sections of the end of Foreman are where they will be building first. LOTS of sold signs and LOTS of reserved signs up along the extension of Foreman and a couple of the side streets.

Two foundations in at the corner of what would be foreman and McCarthy

Re: New subdivision

Also walked the route after you posted last week.    The basement should be now fully framed---one third of the first floor was done within two days.

What I did notice was that McCarthy west of the rec complex is about a meter narrower in both east and west bound lanes.  There MAY be room enough for a bike lane....however I fear this is but another example of the cities commitment to bike routes in town...say it is supported....but when it has the chance for a major east west bike link in the north end....na. why continue the existing McCarthy route!!!!   SUX
