Oh Boy!!!! Another election

Well what to do.   I'm torn.   The liberals have screwed up really TOOOOO badly recently, with the gas hydro plants and all.   The little ferret, the conservatives....would not trust that twit farther than I could push him off the wall....and the NDP does not do much for me either.   Well we have a month or so or campaigning...perhaps something will evolve out of the quagmire to entice me to vote.

Rank, if you choose not to vote, presumably we can count on your indifference to the result?

But of course.  I have always exercised my franchise and have cast my ballot.  Sometimes supporting the winner, but not always.  But fear not...I will certainly be among the many to rant and complain regardless of the outcome...and probably even among those who did nothing to facilitate the outcome.  I will continue to listen to the media, and read the papers to determine what I am supposed to think.

So, are we supposed to be impressed by your sheep like tendencies, or is this a lame attempt at irony? Massive fail either way.

Re: Oh Boy!!!! Another election

This is a tough one...

Liberals defraud the taxpayer of 1.1 billion dollars and draft the most historic NDP designed budget ever.....  Meanwhile the NDP do not like the Socialist budget..

and the Conservatives want to eliminate 100000 civil servant jobs.

Its gonna depend on where you hang your hat and where you work.......as to how you vote..........................

Re: Oh Boy!!!! Another election

Jmmmm....interesting Conservative plans.  It is all about creating jobs, stimulating the economy.  And we can create more jobs, just watch us.....oh yea, let's lay off 100,000 civil servant jobs.....sure that's creating MORE jobs!!!   Huu????

Sorry...I laid off 50% of my staff under the Mike Harris civil servant purge.  Things have never been the same (yes, ok, perhaps some of the "change" was positive...)    And then Rea Days....

Hudak did not just write off 100,000 votes.....What about all the civil servants who might be part of the displaced????   And of course the health care workers and education employees should also look over their shoulders.

One might expect the sh### to hit the fan with the next news cycle.

Re: Oh Boy!!!! Another election

eliminating a 100,000 civil service jobs....sounds just fine to me. Bloated, wasteful, duplicated processes, layer upon layer of governmental non-sense...can't wait to have that salaries of government workers lifted off the shoulders of the private sector that is forced to support them.

If every Ontario government worker that makes say $50k was paying as an example $7,500 in combined provincial taxes (income and sales taxes and fees) we can consider that recycled into their salary....that means of course that $42.5k has to come from somewhere....and it comes from the private sector. Of course this example does not include the gold plated pensions, generous benefits and other things that add to the cost of that government employee.

I shed no tears for a government worker that loses their job because someone figured a way to do things with out them.

Re: Oh Boy!!!! Another election

Thank you Steel.  I do appreciate your contribution to my gold plated pension.  Yes, lets lay off some of throes teachers, nurses, police...all inflated salaries, just a drag on our society.  I'm sure that the private sector can find some way to jump in and fill any gaps.  Harper has the right idea....cut back on scientific research and information collection (census).  Control the "data" and information...and follow his lead and everything will be just fine.

Over paid union workers losing their jobs and cushy pensions to create jobs for those who have no jobs and no pensions. Sounds OK to me. Just because your in a union doesn't mean you should expect to have a job for the rest of your life and some huge pension. Join the real world of low pay and no pension or benefits like most of the rest of us.

Where did it say anything about teachers, nurses and Police? How are the provincial government employees? Most are pay by local governments. How about all those people at the Government Agencies who sit around getting a big pay cheque but being of little help to the public. And what the hell does Harper have to do with the provincial government?

Last time I looked, the Health Care industry sucked over 60% of the provincial spending.  You think this big spending hole will not be "reviewed??  And was there not a lot of complaining about "negotiations" with the various teachers unions under the provincial governmental directions?  So might there not be a further reduction in funding provided for teachers.  I believe HE stated he wanted to get rid of all or most of the treachers aids!!  The papers mentioned also an impact on MUNICIPAL spending.  Not sure how that would work unless it is simply a reduction in provincial transfer programs to the local municipalities for thing like roads and infrastructure.  If so, we locals will either have to accept reductions in local standards or kick in more local tax $$ to keep things working.

To start balancing the books, they either need to reduce spending money, or raise taxes to bring in more money.  And damn, the Liberals billion $ fiasco with the cancelled two gas plants sure has not helped the situation.  So lets cut loose some of thoes overpaid civil servants, and use the $$ saved from their pay to start plugging the holes left by the Liberals.

Yes, let's get rid of those workers who make a decent wage, because that's evil. It's not like losing jobs will effect the economy in any way. I'm sure that none of those people pay taxes, or buy stuff, or stimulate the economy at all. I say let's get rid of them, and then, because there are no jobs (other than part-time minimum wage jobs), they can all sit at home and collect money from the government. That makes much more sense to me, too....

I am out of town at the moment, coming back only sporadically between now and the election.

Anyone aware of advance poll dates for P-W?
