Milverton Rodeo

Rising country star shooting video in at Milverton Rodeo launch

Lights! Camera! Milverton!

Country star Libby McGrath will be shooting the music video for her upcoming single “Messin' Around” and she wants Milverton to star with her in it.

The shoot will take place on the opening evening of the 2013 Milverton Rodeo at the Milverton Agri Centre tonight. The production team of On Ramp Records wants residents, friends and anyone else who wants to help McGrth kick it off in style.

“When I think of growing up in Milverton, two words come to mind -- community, and music,” says Milverton native Scotty Kipfer, now vice-president of promotion and artist development at On Ramp Records. “Milverton and its residents possess a character and charm that are perfect for the project we're working on. I’m excited to showcase my hometown, and the people that helped shape every part of who I am. When I realized it was Rodeo weekend, I knew we had to shoot. Nobody throws a party like Milverton.”

McGrath was recently nominated for Female Artist of the Year at the Country Music Association of Ontario Awards, and enjoyed her first Top 50 hit in the summer of 2011 with a song called “Princess”.

In early 2012, she gave birth to her second child, and took a break from recording. Her new single, “Messin' Around”, due for release June 24, will mark her return to the country radio airwaves.

The music video will be shot in two main parts:

7:30 p.m. – Fairgounds ball diamond

With the help of the Milverton Volunteer Fire Department, a huge community bonfire jam session will be filmed. Members of the community are invited to arrive at 7:20 p.m. All ages are welcome, so bring the kids and their grandparents.

Producers also want people to bring a lawn chair, any type of musical instrument if you play one -- including spoons -- and a travel mug of some sort. They say the travel mug is vital, so bring one if you have one.

Come as you are. If you wear a cowboy hat normally, wear it. If you normally wear a ball cap, wear that. Milverton’s residents are all unique, and we want to showcase the essence of each of your individuality.

The fire will be lit, and the filming will begin at 7:30 p.m sharp.

8 p.m.-midnight – Milverton Agri Centre

The Darcy John Band will be part of the bonfire shoot, and will then perform inside the MAC until midnight. The crew will shoot a scene with the band, as well as story segments during the party. As advertised, a $5 cover charge applies to this portion of the evening.
