Down to the Sunroom, Cafe Ten and Taj:

Can't see the sun room going any time soon....extremely dated and the over grown trees ....poor lay out....etc etc

The Taj site seems as cursed as the place next door...although they spent a pile of cash on it.

Cafe 10....always busy...perhaps a little over priced

Agreed.  The Sunroom changed owners from those I first knew, and it went downhill.  Not horrid by any means, just no where near as good as it had been.

Cafe Ten was originally up for sale because the owners wanted to focus on their other place - Tapas, which of course is now gone and is the apparently successful Downie St. Burgers.

Re: Wanna Restaurant???

Alexa's in Sebringville is up for sale.  We are regulars, it'll be a shame to see Alexa and Antonio leave the area as business people.

Re: Wanna Restaurant???

Evergreen is gone.  The woman who owns Montforte Dairy has taken over, starting a new, simple eatery based on local produce, much of it her own, with little outside to even let you know it's there.

An "interesting" approach!

Montforte on Wellington has great food, and the menu changes all of the time.
I love it.
(but I DO wish they'd do something about that sign. It's an eyesore, and probably not even legal)

Agreed.  It looks like bad graffiti.

Re: Wanna Restaurant???

Alexa's in Sebringville was sold - to the landlord.  The space is up for lease.  We really enjoyed our many visits there, a real shame Alexa and Antonio couldn't make a go of it.

Re: Wanna Restaurant???

Well, the list goes on and on:

Cafe Ten still up for sale, but the price has dropped dramatically.
Let Them Eat Cake is up for sale.
Coffee Culture on Downie franchise up for sale, nearly $400K.
Dave's Diner up for sale.
The former Sun Room building up for sale.
Bijou is still for sale (though what you get when the chef is gone is beyond me).
Oh, and Gino's Pizza on Ontario is up for sale.

HURRY ON DOWN!!!!

Café ten surprises me....always busy.
Let them eat cake....not worth anything...see my review
Coffee Culture....nice redo and good location....but $400K...WAY to expensive.
Dave's....not surprised. Although it seems busy the lay out of ackward, the menu limited and marginal
Sun Room.....its worth the price of the real estate....the business is worth zip.
Bijou....always liked it...see my review....but you are right without the chef would it survive new owners>
Gino's....not a surprise

Re: Wanna Restaurant???

It appears that Dave's Diner is moving to the former Alexa's in Sebringville.  I cannot fathom why they would do that.  Perhaps the rent in the Sobey's plaza is too high.  Having been a regular in Alexa's, I can say it is far higher end than Dave's current setting, is smaller, and in a rather out of the way location.  They plan on opening in mid-January.  I give them a year, tops.

Re: Wanna Restaurant???

The sign for Alexa's is gone (I'd hoped to snap a pic of it, and left it too late), and the sandwich board that had "Rib Dinner $13.95" on it now says "Coming soon Dave's Diner".

Vehicles outside and lots of traffic as they prep for opening shortly.  I'll pop in and report back asap.

Re: Wanna Restaurant???

The former Dave's Diner site is now "Two Girls and a Diner".  When I drove past yesterday, it was packed.  Dave's in Sebringville is being worked on, trucks coming and going.  It will be really interesting to get inside once it opens to check it out.  The size alone makes me wonder what it will be like.

Re: Wanna Restaurant???

If I recall the back end of the old Sebringvilla was cavernous. I agree the place might just be TOO big for the family restaurant style of place. Lets face it there are only some many people to fill the tables out there.

Re: Wanna Restaurant???

The back end is to my knowledge rented out by the interior design firms located there.  Alexa's, which I frequented often, was a small place, seating perhaps twenty people.  I will check out Dave's as soon as they open, and report back as to how they've configured it.
I live in Sebringville, if I haven't made it obvious yet...  ;-)
